22, Abchurch Lane, London, January 25, 1907. WE beg leave to advise you, for the information of Sir Edward Grey, that we have to-day received a telegram from Mr. Bland, our representative in Peking, in the following terms :--

**Canton-Kowloon Railway Imperial Edict. I have been informed by Tang Shao Yi it is possible nothing can be done before China New Year, of which holidays begin on the 3rd February; if so, there will be a further delay of six weeks.”
